What�s wrong with my jaw?

I don't think it's TMJ because my jaw doesn't hurt and never gets stuck in an opened or closed position. When it gets stuck, I can open and close my mouth, but not that much. It also makes a kind of clicking sound when I try to "unlock" it. It never hurts though, my face doesn't swell up and only one side of my face, where the madible and skull bone meet, experiences it. I'm only 15, but this has been happening for about 2 or 3 years now, maybe it started before but I hadn't noticed. My mom also experiences something like this and I think it may be hereditary, but I'm not sure. Can anyone tell me what this is? Thank you very much in advance to anyone that answers this question.
