How can I make this a beneficial learning experience for this student?

I will be working with an ESL student in Sept. who does not speak or appear to understand English. I only speak English. No one else in the clroom speaks Spanish. The teacher has never had an ESL student in her clroom. I am the only paraprofessional in the clroom and I only work mornings with this student.
