Popularity Question?

OK here the deal ever since 6th grade i could program computers....... i listened to music like taking back sunday, Relient-K, motion city soundtrack, everyone thought my music was lame in my school.... and people in my school knew that and they called me a geek...i didnt like preppys that much...well now im in 8th grade and i listen to taking back sunday still, motion city,cute is what we aim for,brand new, boys like girls forever the sickest kids,etc....i started listening to these bands b4 they got big...and all of a sudden in the past 2 months people started relizing hey this kid listens to better music then me wtf we called this kid a geek........i find my self talking to preps not geeks in prevous schooling years. well i got invited to the most popular persons birthday....i didnt go..... i just got invited to the moives...i dont plan on going......i think that some where inside of me i think that everyones just messin around and its like some kind of joke..this happen to any1 b4?
