On Sims 2 Nighlife, how do you make the Sims become vampires?

You see, i am making a vampire family and i bough those potions off the match maker and they ended up in the inventory, then when i triedd to make my sims use it, it wouldn't let me! I can't look at the booklet because its my friends disk and now shes living in south africa! help!!!!
