Is it dangerous to take battery powered objects into the bath?

A battery is a device that supplies electric power. So a battery-powered device is electrical. Unless it is made specifically to be water-resistant (as some things are), you should not bring it in the shower. Your chances of electrocution are very low, but your chances of ruining the device are quite high if it gets wet.
